Hawaiian Skies, Big Island, June/July 2005

Traveling to the Big Island, we were steeped in historic Hawaiian culture at Puu Honua O Honaunau, enjoyed bar-b-que dinners on the beach and made friends with the abundant tropical fish while snorkeling. A special treat was learning Hawaiiana from Nona and Kaliko Beamer.

Nona and Kaliko Beamer brought their lessons in Hawaiiana to our group. The Beamers are renowned in Hawaii for their teachings of the culture.

Service projects on Kauai and Molokai

Many outings focus on service projects on the Islands or at least include a day or two of such projects. These photos are from a service trip to the Kalaupapa Peninsula on Molokai and from a project to clear exotic ginger from the native forest of Kauai.
